But with a name like Christmas Central, Christmas is kind of our thing. So of course we have some ideas of our own! Here are five Christmas tree decorating trends we’re following for 2023.
If you love Christmas as much as we do, we’re sure you’ll want to try at least one!
Neutral and Natural
Do you know the feeling you get when you walk out into a quiet winter night after leaving a noisy Christmas party? Neutral and natural Christmas decor is a lot like that. Calm, soothing and simply pretty, neutral and natural Christmas decor is defined by colors like cream, soft beige, natural browns and gray, with cozy and simple organic textiles and textures.
You’ll find yarn balls and burlap ribbon, wooden beads and unfinished wood snowflakes, pleated paper ornaments and a smattering of glitter. Ornaments that nod to nature include feathered birds, pinecones, pampas and other grasses, with a smidge of fur.
While a natural and neutral Christmas tree is easily attainable on its own, ornaments in this category also blend into other popular styles like Scandinavian, minimalist and farmhouse.
Natural and neutral styles look beautiful on a simple green pine tree.

Merry Magenta
With Viva Magenta following on the heels of Veri Peri as Pantone Color of the Year 2023, vivid pinks and strong purples are important tones this Christmas season.
It’s your tree - you get to decide how bold you want to go. Opt for a range of pinks or hang only magenta ornaments in shiny, matte and glittered finishes. Mix magenta with jewel tones like amethyst or sapphire blue. Glam it up with glistening gold. Or start with a dramatic magenta pink Christmas tree!

Black and White
Black and white color schemes entered our Christmas psyche about the same time as the farmhouse decor trend. These days, black and white Christmas decorations maintain their tried and true popularity. A strong statement on its own, black and white decorations can span looks from bold to minimalist, but the combination also dresses up beautifully with sparkling silver or gold.
The great thing about the black and white combination is that you can change up the look by adding one additional color. Go soft with pale pink or beige, or build the drama with deep greens or dark reds.
Develop a stylish black and white look for a flocked tree! Or if you’re really feeling bold, try hanging black and white decorations on a black or deeply dark green tree.

Shimmer and Shine
All that glitters at Christmas time is not gold…it could be silver, pewter, bronze or platinum, since mixed metals are popular in both home design and Christmas design.
From traditional silver and gold to dramatic gold and black, metals put the finishing sparkle and shine on our Christmas trees. In addition, rich metallics blend perfectly with just about any color combination or theme.
Choose more neutral metallic tones like champagne gold, pewter, iron or bronze, or glam it up Gatsby style for a sumptuous look that evokes the Roaring ‘20s. Pair your metals with crystal for added opulence.

Vintage Inspiration
Because holiday celebrations tend to be steeped in tradition, vintage looks will always be “in” at Christmas. Hot on the heels of a mid century modern design revival, an increased interest in retro styles is bringing back tinsel, traditional ornaments and bubble lights.
The look is nostalgic, vibrant and exuberant, with shiny and bright ornaments in a rainbow of colors. To channel a vintage Christmas theme, start with a collection of multicolor ornaments and sprinkle in a few classic reflector ornaments. Add tinsel garland or beaded garland for even more color and shine.
While a classic green artificial Christmas tree is purely vintage, you don’t have to stick with a traditional tree. Colorful vintage ornaments look sensational viewed against the backdrop of a flocked or white Christmas tree!
